SMS Terms and Conditions

The Millionaire in Training Project (The M.I.T. Project)

These SMS Terms and Conditions apply to the text messaging program run by The Millionaire in Training Project ("The M.I.T. Project," "we," "us," or "our"), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers free financial literacy classes, coaching, and community programs.

1. Program description

When you opt in, The M.I.T. Project may send you text messages about:

  • Invitations to financial literacy classes, workshops, and community events
  • Confirmations of classes or programs you have registered for
  • Reminders about upcoming sessions
  • Schedule changes, cancellations, and location updates
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Fundraising campaigns and ways to support our mission
  • General program and organization updates

2. How you opt in: consent is voluntary

You join by entering your mobile number and checking the optional SMS consent box on our registration form. The box is never checked for you. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of registering for any class, receiving any service, or making a donation. You can register for our programs without agreeing to receive texts.

When you opt in, you confirm that you are the account holder or an authorized user of the mobile number you provide.

Message frequency varies, up to 4 messages per month.

4. Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. The M.I.T. Project does not charge for text messages, but your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data rates apply. Contact your carrier for plan details.

5. How to opt out (STOP)

You can cancel at any time. Reply STOP to any message from us. We also honor CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, STOPALL, REVOKE, OPTOUT, and other reasonable requests to stop, including requests sent by email or phone. After you opt out, we will send one text confirming your opt-out, and then no more messages unless you opt in again. To rejoin, reply START or opt in again through our registration form.

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery depends on your carrier and device and is not guaranteed.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these SMS Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a revised effective date. If you keep receiving messages after an update, you accept the revised terms.
